The Rappahannock College and Career Access Program makes sure all students have the resources they need to create and carry out the college, vocational, or career plans that are right for them.
The Starfish Mentoring Program fosters one-on-one mentoring relationships in which trained adult volunteers meet weekly with local youth to act as caring, nurturing role models.
The After-School Enrichment Program provides a safe, exciting alternative for after-school time for children in the Rappahannock County Public Schools. After-School supports a healthy snack, outdoor activities, homework help and an enrichment for children ages 7 – 14.
Educational Enrichment Grants
Educational Enrichment Grants totaling over $165,000 have been awarded to Rappahannock County Public School teachers for innovative classroom projects—everything from chemistry lab equipment upgrades to Spanish language CDs, from materials on Shakespeare to GPS equipment.
READ is a year-long collaboration between RCES and Headwaters and, through our trained volunteers, provides tutoring to Kindergarten and 2nd Grade students, with a primary focus on reading.
Headwaters administers several endowed scholarship and award funds. The Headwaters Next Step Program also helps to oversee a number of other local scholarship programs for the community.
The Rappahannock County Public School Farm-to-Table Program cultivates students who are good stewards of the earth and productive community members through classroom study of horticulture, environmental science, conservation, planting and maintenance of school gardens, and hands-on experiences at local family farms. Headwaters supports Farm-to-Table with a robust budget to support these initiatives.
